The Trace
2024 - ongoing
Inspired by the discussions within the study of memory which consider whether each act of remembrance involves accessing a stable memory fragment, or if it instead entails creating a new trace to house the thought, this project is interested in exploring the malleability of memorialization, and the role photographs play in distorting memory. Delving into personal photographic archives, and experimenting with photo-sensitive paper exposed to sunlight, The Trace reflects on the tension between immortalization and ephemerality, embracing what once was, and what can be.
